Here at Total Wine & More I've really jumped right into the environment. I started out as a Merchandiser and within the first few months I pursued further training to be able to pick up more hours. I ended up learning and working the registers. Soon after I found myself learning Web-Orders which with my experience as a merchandiser made locating some items that were not already on the shelves easier. While working Webs and doing Merch I started talking to people helping them find product they were looking for and even making an attempt at sales. I did really well talking with customers about tequila, rum, vodka, and some cordials. I asked if I could join the Sales Team, eventually, I earned my spot on the Spirits Team. While I am a main stay on the sales floor I still fill in to back-up register, jump in on Web-Orders, and even a Merch shift. I really enjoy working for the company and plan to continue learning and growing with the company looking for opportunities within it.

Amazon as a company they want you to know as much of the warehouse as possible incase they have a shortage in any area they can shift workers over to meet the requirements. I was fortunate enough to learn Stow, Pick, ICQA (Inventory Control and Quality Assurance), and Out-Bound Dock. Stow is what you would think you're taking items from the totes or cart and placing them into a bin or on a shelving unit scanning the item in so a Picker can locate it. As a Picker you're just following the RF Gun that you're given at the start of the shift which has a planned route per the items that are being ordered live. ICQA you're keeping track of the items that are supposed to be in a bin or shelving unit. Meaning you're sent to double check all bins during the shift so if the RF Unit tells me to go to 2nd floor A side 300s bin 312 there should be 12 items there. I would scan into the bin, count the bin, then report that its accurate or that the count is inaccurate which is then handled by a higher tier member of ICQA. Out-Bound Dock is the most physical job that I had during my time at Amazon. You had to move full crates of packaged product from one end to the other store them in designated areas depending on truck type and time of departure. I had a brief training in Forklift Driving but before it could be completed I was switch back to Picker.

During my time with Food Lion I worked in the Deli Department. I didn't have much responsibility aside from general cleanliness and product knowledge. I typically worked the closing shift where we would be responsible for closing out the Deli Station which involved cleaning everything. The slicers had to be broken-down and the slicer pulled off in order to clean it from all debris. The floors had to be brushed and scrubbed to prevent any debris build up from cutting meats and cheeses.

In my role as Shift Supervisor my main responsibilities were centered around closing the store. These include but not limited to; making sure the back door was locked and tagged making sure the tag matched the log for the person opening the next day. Closing out the registers from Pharmacy and Front End balancing out each to $100 for the next day. Depositing the cash profit into the safe and logging it into the safe log. Making sure the store was closed down properly by pulling down window guards and engaging the alarm and locking the doors. Outside of closing operations I was involved in keeping the shelves stocked and labels faced out so the customers could see the product. I would also be responsible for turning over the sales tags for the end of the week into the new sale rotation. As well as helping out the customer to the best of my ability with any questions they may have about the product or where it is located within the store.
