During my tenure, DealerSocket was a 1200+ employee private equity backed technology company (growing from approximately 450 employees at my start date). I reported to the COO/GC, took point on all contracting matters and managed a team of paralegals. This includes drafting and negotiation with vendors (technology and all others), customers and industry partners, post-signing mergers and acquisitions, contract enforcement/litigation, contract management, legal-sales process implementation, and serve as a legal adviser to all departments in contract/enforcement matters. Other areas of responsibility include trademark processing and tracking, real property lease management and marketing/advertising compliance.Of note is that I was hired back to DealerSocket from Aug. 2020 to Sept. 2021 as outside corporate counsel and then asked to lead the legal department as outside VP of Legal Affairs (managing attorneys and paralegals) until DealerSocket’s acquisition by Solera. I was offered full-time employment again but opted to continue my own practice.

Landed what I believed to be my big firm real estate transactions "dream job" doing real estate finance, purchase/sale, title & survey, merger and acquisition real estate support and leasing. I left after such a short time because I was very enthusiastic about the opportunity to get into technology while living in the SoCal beach town, San Clemente, and having a family in a suburb rather than the city.

After taking the California bar, my wife and I moved to LA so she could work as a nurse at USC Keck Medical Center. I found varying contract jobs doing corporate M&A (Nevers Palazzo in Westlake Village), real estate securities (then the law firm of Trowbridge and Taylor) and O'Melveny Myers doing e-discovery (doc review) to put bread on the table while looking for my dream job and waiting for my CA bar results.

Honed my legal research and new lawyer skills practicing chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy crossing swords with BK trustees and in BK court in Salt Lake City. Also practiced commercial litigation in real estate, construction, and business arguing motions for summary judgment and one bench trial which lead me to not want to practice in litigation.

Worked as a summer associate between second and third years of law school. Unfortunately, the market crash in 2008 eliminated all positions for new associates the following year.
