After completing my honours degree in 2011 I didn't have much of an idea about what I was going to do next. I knew that I wanted to start my career but I didn't know what that career was going to be. I had opportunities to go and work in major cities, namely Manchester, but due to personal circumstances I really felt that this was not the right path for me. It was after working as an IT technician in a local high school that I realised I wanted to pursue a different area of interest, one that would lead to career opportunities closer to home and that I felt I would get more satisfaction from.In 2014 I decided to take, what I thought to be a risk, and go back to college to retrain as an engineer. Looking back now I can say that it was absolutely the right decision, but at the time I was unsure that going backwards to eventually move forwards was going to pay-off.I completed my engineering diploma in 2015 and then went on to complete a HNC in Mechanical Engineering in 2016 obtaining a Distinction in both qualifications.I am currently employed as a Mechanical Technician on a Nuclear Generation site. My main role is to carry out core maintenance and testing on both critical and non-critical parts of plant and apparatus in line with company safety rules Electrical and Mechanical (E&M). I am also required to carry out work under authorised safety documents or approved procedures. This is to ensure that both safety from the system and general safety is maintained at all times.I have previously been employed as a Design & Development Engineer where I was able to apply my previous skills as a Trainee Design Engineer whilst constantly learning new techniques, skills and good practices which will hopefully enable me to continue to grow into a well-rounded and multi-skilled engineer.I have also previously been employed as a Technical Project Engineer and thoroughly enjoyed the technical aspects of my job. I was always excited to learn more about the products that my company both manufactures and distributes as well as using my expertise and knowledge to provide technical data to both internal and external contacts.I am a hardworking and meticulous individual with outstanding communication who is willing to take on and learn new skills to further my development. I am an excellent team player with a proven history of working in a varied environment whilst also having the ability to work independently if the job requires it.
