In my current post I am the manager of the Polymer Characterisation Research Facility in the Materials Science Department at the University of Cambridge. This is a multidisciplinary research facility used by postgraduate students and also undergraduate teaching and research projects. The lab is equipped with thermal analysis and spectroscopy equipment including DSC, TGA, DMA, TMA and FTIR for work in many areas of Materials Science including polymers, composites and nano-materials.I am responsible for training of users and advising on the interpretation of results. I consult for public and private sector organisations on R&D projects and quality control. The role also involves laboratory safety, maintenance and procurement.
