I was brought into this organization as a consultant to set up the tools and methods for performance and load testing and to do the initial baselines of their internet image server products. Evaluated the available test tools, purchased some and developed others as needed in-house. Did the initial baselining of their products and then turned the sustaining over to a permanent employee hired for the position.

My focus in this company was developing automated tests under Segue SilkPerformer, measuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of the shopping cart's transaction processing, as well as the Mercado search engine, a merchant interface tool implemented in Story Server, and other applications such as an image server and data encoding systems. Developed some custom test tools for API products using Java and Tcl.

Hired as the first SWQA engineer in this startup, inplementing QA methods for their multimedia products and later, internet applications, as the company changed directions. As the QA group grew in size, I became more specialized in developing automated test tools in Java, implementing such tools as functional and performance test tools for product qualification and a 7x24 monitor for the live site.

Developed and ran a test suite for ScriptX, an object oriented scripting language. This product was aimed at developers of multimedia titles that can run on both Mac and Windows. Programming in "C" and the target language, testing functionality and performance.

Contract to test Unix Compatibility for the initial release of the Pentium processor. Verified that applications running under Unix would function as well or better with a Pentium as with a 486.

I was a QA group of one, responsible for directing SWQA for the division. Set QA policy and developed systems for bug tracking and reporting, test tracking, and test suite organization. The products were complex instrument products.

Developed the test suite and test methods for both hardware and software in a line of IBM compatible PCs, testing the BIOS, DOS, UNIX, and drivers for video and hard drive controllers. I was also responsible for hardware reliability testing and statistical reliability forecasting.
