Utilized initial National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grant to form protection committee including creating an office, developing and implementing a strategic agenda with annual budget, and establishing a sustainable legal structure. Selected Achievements: Facilitated the research, development, introduction and signing of an Intermunicipal Agreement among fourteen municipalities. Instituted strategic agenda and annual budget for organization. Awarded two grants to address Onsite Waste Water Treatment Systems – a committee priority. Developed and implemented Comprehensive Resident Waterfowl and Pet Waste management plans. Developing a community shellfish gardening program.

Revitalized and restored pride in the school’s waterfront programs by developing and implementing a strategic plan approved by the Waterfront Advisory Committee which included overhauling the entire waterfront facility, dramatically expanding waterfront activities to support students, faculty and staff, instituting new recreational programs for the community, and establishing diverse revenue sources to provide sustainable support for waterfront activities. Direct a staff of four full-time employees, six student assistants, and three dozen volunteers.

Managed all organization activities including creating and implementing shipboard and land based education programs for children K-12 and adults, and scheduling 20 volunteer captains and crew for Christeen, a 60’ National Historic Landmark oyster boat. Oversaw operation of largest sailing school on Long Island (40 boat fleet ranging from dinghies to 30’+ cruising sailboats). Responsible for all aspects of fundraising including special events, two 7,000-piece semi-annual direct mail appeals, and corporate, foundation, and government giving. Produced and edited all publications including press releases, annual report, program guides, and web site content. Served as the organization’s spokesperson for the press, and New York State and local government officials. Directed a staff of five full-time employees, two dozen part-time and seasonal employees, and dozens of volunteers. Reported directly to Board and coordinated Board activities.
