An award-winning self-shooting director and editor with extensive experience creating compelling and engaging documemtary films, branded content and commercial work.I'm a natural storyteller. Never happier than when I’m working with people to get their story told – be that in documentary, brand film, image or copy. I’ve made films for Guinness, Hooch, Martell, Saab, Oxfam, Ford, South Australia Tourism, Visit Dubai, Visit Flanders, Visit Finland, Inntravel, Mazda, Journey Latin America, Elavon, Vonage, Alliance & Leicester, MSS, Chadlington Brewery, Books Up North, Cartridge World, Family Assurance, Adam Henson's Farm Park, as well as profile films for ad agencies, authors, artists, musicians, dancers, and a ten-part web series for Arts Council England.I fell in love with filmmaking at an early age: working on video projects at school, and work experience in the documentary department at Yorkshire TV – including a stint on Barry Cockcroft’s BAFTA winning series about Hannah Hauxwell, ‘A Winter Too Many’.In 2022 I filmed and edited ‘Shove It - the Xero Slingsby story’, a feature-length documentary about one of the UK’s most exciting and original musicians, sadly lost to cancer in 1988 when he was just 30. ‘Shove It’ premiered to a sell-out audience at Leeds International Film Festival, and has since screened at the North East International Film Festival, Northampton Film Festival, Everything UK Festival in Ghent, Leeds Jazz Festival and Brighton Rocks International Film Festival.Away from the commercial aspect of storytelling, I took myself through a part-time MA in Creative Writing to enhance my storytelling techniques and get a deeper understanding of how and why stories connect with people, with inspirational tutors including His Dark Materials author Philip Pullman and Booker prize winner Bernardine Evaristo.How can I help you tell your story?“Inspiring, insightful, passionate, challenging – Robert Crampton stood out from the very start.
