Monrovia And Throughout Liberia

• contractor supervisionDuties also included mapping of known and unknown roads between Monrovia and the Côte d'Ivoire border, production of maps and drawings for use in reconstruction of roads & bridges.

Kenay & Somalia

Road & bridge design in Somalia in support of WFP's food distribution program aiding the civilian population affected by the al Shabaab insurgency.Duties included civil & structuraL design, tender assessment, project management and contractor supervision.Projects included wharf & jetty reconstruction, construction of new buildings, repair of damaged.

Kenya & Somalia

Engaged by UNWFP to establish an engineering office to support the delivery of food aid to Somalia duties include site assessment, needs identification, project design,construction and management.

Syria & South Lebanon

• During the conflict between Hezbollah & Israel I was responsible for meeting the shelter needs of Lebanese refugees fleeing South Lebanon into Syria.Responsibilities included
• site planning in Syria for refugees from South Lebanon
• overseeing the shelter program within the shelter cluster
• liaison with the Government of Syria for accommodation of refugees
• following the ceasefire, created a new shelter aid plan for presentation at the Stockholm donors' conference, which was unanimously accepted
• implementation of shelter aid for IDP's within Lebanon, both reconstruction and new housing

Male And Throughout The Maldives

• Following the tsunami of December 2004 I was seconded to HIRU, Maldives Government Ministry for building, to design and coordinate the reconstruction of housing destroyed in the tsunami.Responsibilities include
• preparing & assessing tenders, managing projects, supervising contractors for the reconstruction of houses on affected islands, with projects ranging in value from $US1m to $US17m
• Carrying out damage assessment missions to affected islands, writing assessment reports and liaising with donors for aid delivery.
• Conducting GPS surveys and preparing maps of affected islands.

Ingushetia & Chechnya

• UNHCR Shelter Coordinator Russian Federation based in the conflict environment of southern Russia and Chechnya. Responsibilities included
• planning, design and construction supervision of three large tent camps for 30,000 IDP’s
• coordination with Russian government Ministries and with foreign aid organisations the delivery of aid in Ingushetia, North Ossetia and South Ossetia to internally displaced persons fleeing the war in Chechnya
• meeting the water supply, hygiene and shelter needs of 150,000 IDP’s throughout South Russia..
• Coordinating the shelter activities of all Agencies, NGO's and other aid providers in South Russia.
