I co-founded this organization to fill a void I observed guiding internationally - there was a need to build capacity and empower local guides to serve as the leaders, cutting lingering ties of colonialism. Developing sustainable livelihoods, our students not only became leaders in the field, but also in their communities, and some even went on to start their own organizations. Possibly even more rewarding was the success we had growing the offerings to serve game scouts and rangers, NGO teams, and remote communities. Managing highly trained and experienced professionals with a passion to share knowledge of wilderness medicine, outdoor leadership and skills, risk management, and conservation challenges and best practices to better prepare students for the challenges they face. We work around the world, focusing on global destinations rich in natural resources but in need of educational opportunities to harness growing ecotourism, and to care for colleagues, clientele, even family and friends. Students range from climbing, rafting, safari and hunting guides, rangers and anti-poaching units, to researchers, ranchers and remote villages, even professors and school teachers.

Mountain ranches along the Piedra River surrounded by stunning peaks and the San Juan National Forest and Weminuche Wilderness, home to cattle operations since first homesteaded, the Ute before that. This was the first place I was able to apply my study and training as an ecologist, it became my field lab. Co-authored the Sagebrush Assessment - Eastern Oregon Natural History and Settlement Patterns chapters. Collected data on forest structure. Wrote research reports, analyzed GIS data, and managed database. Organized and facilitated collaborative groups and wildlife conference. Designed websites for Sagebrush Cooperative and Northwest Fire Learning Network.
