Bob Simpson has had a varied career in law. Following graduation from law school in 1970, he worked as a commercial attorney. In 1975, he was elected to the Texas House of Representative, where he served for 5 terms (10 years), six of those years as Chair of the Committee on Insurance, He was given Honorable Mention by Texas Monthly twice. During his service in the Legislature, he continued in the general practice of law. He moved to Austin, Texas in 1986 and, as a member of Roan, Simpson, and Autrey, he practiced in the field of administrative law before the State Board of Insurance, as well as lobbying. In 1992, he became Of Counsel to Baker and Botts, continuing his practice in insurance regulation and lobbying. In 2002, he began work with the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners (now the Texas Medical Board) and worked his way up to General Counsel. Since 2009, Bob has been in private practice in an Of Counsel position with the Leichter Law Firm, P.C., which specializes in professional licensing.
