With over thirty years of professional law enforcement investigative experience, Robert “David” Smith has expertise in all types of intelligence and border interdiction enforcement efforts. Before opening his consulting business, RD Smith Consulting LLP, David was actively involved in all aspects of United States Customs enforcement activities, with emphasis on international land, air, and rail transportation. He has extensive knowledge of international airports, and ports of entry across the northern US border. He has experience coordinating joint law enforcement border interdiction efforts involving federal, state and local authorities, US military personnel and assets, and foreign law enforcement agencies. He has coordinated several joint federal law enforcement/military border projects utilizing civilian and military surveillance aircraft, and coordinated ground operations. During his Customs investigator career, David gained extensive experience in investigations involving illegal import/export issues, merchandise and drug smuggling, international money laundering, racketeering, and white-collar crime. He has over forty years of managerial and supervisory experience inside and outside of the US Government.David has been certified Train-the-Trainer instructor in chemical/biological weapons and weapons of mass destruction, having received that certification with US Customs and Border Protection. David has extensive contacts within the United States law enforcement and intelligence communities, as well as internationally. He coordinated and supervised training for the US Customs Service in Glynco, GA, and Washington, DC, at the US Customs Service National Academy.
