At QinetiQ I was able to combine my software and hardware knowledge in order to make an impact on several projects, both military contracted and IRAD• Using Mathworks’ Simulink Realtime software on a Speedgoat CPU, completed and formally tested software for the EPCC (Electromechanical actuator Power Conditioner and Controller). Implemented motor control whereby up to 4 electromechanical actuators (3-phase induction motors) could be simultaneously driven of the 24 connected to the device, as well as configuration parameter upload, serial communication, fault and event logging, and the user interface• Using LabVIEW, completed test software that emulated a control panel as well as 24 individual motors controlled by the EPCC. Tasks included analog/digital signal I/O management, parallel state machines, automation of command signals via text file, and data logging in TDMS format • Using Linux and ROS Melodic, planned the software architecture of an autonomous room-disinfecting robot. Tasks included LIDAR integration and inter-node communication• Using Embedded C, worked on motor controller software for a 30-60 ton military vehicle using via a Wolfspeed 300kW XM3 Three-Phase Inverter, which is controlled by TI’s C2000 MCU. Tasks included comprehending the inverter’s hardware schematics and MCU’s user manual to determine if the device was valid for the project’s requirements, writing the SRS based on CAN ICDs provided by the customer, and planning the CAN interface using Simma Software’s drivers• Conducted various lab tasks that included PCB debugging and soldering, cable assembly testing, and working to determine whether a test failure was a hardware or software problem• Wrote and conducted various software and hardware test procedures as well as product documentation
