About Robert Dell

Robert Dell, FASME, is the Founding Director of Cooper Union's Laboratory for Energy Reclamation and Innovation since 2006 ,and since 2020 the Director and Senior Researcher of the Low Temperature Cascade Energy Utilization Group at the University of Iceland. . He was the Director for Cooper Union’s Special Project on Select Patent Monetization in 2019 . He was the Founding Director Cooper Union's Center for Innovation and Applied Technology from 2012 -2020, Other appointments include Research Fellow for the C.V. Starr Research Foundation, Visiting Scientist at Iceland’s Keilir Institute of Technology. Guest Lecturer with the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He was previously a Fellow with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), The New York Botanical Garden, the University of Iceland Research Stations, Fulbright, the American Scandinavian Foundation and the MacDowell Colony. Prof. Dell was the Principal Investigator for numerous research grants from Consolidated Edison, and was the Project Research Scientist on a New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) . He was appointed a Technical Consultant for the United States Department of Energy (DOE) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Assistance Program.Prof. Dell has given open lectures Harvard, MIT, Columbia University, the University of Iceland, the Keilir Institute of Technology, IceBio2015 in Reykjavik, the Metropolitan Chapter of ASME, the New York Hall of Science, and the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He is the First Author and presenter of numerous award winning peer reviewed research papers for the Geothermal Resources Council, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). the World Geothermal Congress and EuraSEM(European Society for Experimental Mechanics),Scientific American has recognized Robert Dell as one of the leading professional researchers in the New York City area. The Smithsonian Institute has established the “Robert Dell Papers” as a permanent archive. Massachusetts Institute of Technology School of Architecture + Planning, Program in Art, Culture and Technology (ACT) established a permanent archive and special collection, "The Robert Dell Collection", 2019.Prof. Dell is the First Inventor of eleven registered patents owned by the Cooper Union.In 2021, Robert Dell was elected Fellow in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). In 2023 he received the Partnership Award issued by Fulbright Commission, the U.S. Embassy in, Reykjavik Iceland, and former U.S. Ambassador Charles Cobb.

Arranged formal exchange agreements with the University of Iceland,Reykjavik University, and the The Keilir Institute of Technology. This has resulted in more than 10 collaborative peer reviewed papers and articles in addition to numerous open lectures in Iceland and at the Cooper Union.5. Conducted green energy research in thermoelectric power generation and heated ground agriculture using waste steam and waste geothermal hot water as heat sources. 6. First Author for numerous peer reviewed papers published and presented at ASME and Geothermal Resources Council international conferences.7. Initiated and developed numerous corporate collaborative partnerships with NDA agreements.8. Established collaborative international research projects with institutional, corporate and municipal partners in Iceland.8. Supervised over 60 students for senior projects.
