I am working for Marathon Petroleum Corporation in their Michigan Refining Division as an onsite Network Engineer. My current position exposes me to nearly all aspects of the network and refinery. Mostly focused on Layer 2 devices such as 9300/Ie3300/9500 Core switches, Access Points, onsite Wireless Access Controller. Configuration/Deployment of all devices. Troubleshooting issues all the way up to and including Layer 3. Currently working on a project to deploy a Private LTE solution for our process units to allow them to access Marathon applications anywhere in the plant, using Celona LTE Radios and Digi wireless devices. Finishing a year long project to replace all layer 2 devices at the Detroit Refinery as well as the Refinery at Minneapolis Saint Paul. This included all switch/access points and core devices.

I was working a 6 to 18-month contract with Marathon Oil on a project to upgrade the network infrastructure of their newly acquired west coast company. My position requires me to travel nearly 75% of the time re-mediating network components for Marathon Oil. In this position I was required to obtain a TWIC card from the Department of Homeland Security to enter secure port facilities that is still active. The remediation process requires me to go on site and perform physical upgrades such as router and switch replacements, installation of new racks and UPS's. As well as replacement of cat 5 cabling. It also requires me to log on to newly installed equipment and get them up and running for the site and to check for backup cellular fail over testing. In this position I am getting exposure to nearly all aspects of network administration and engineering. This includes working on Cisco devices to perform basic to moderate setup of routers. As well as physically demanding tasks such as taking apart an entire server room and putting it back together with updated equipment and racks.

Worked as part of a small team that ensured our dozens of customers were satisfied. My position involved making sure backups were current and that they were verified. Working on numerous active directory servers. Administrative duties on vendor sites such as MS Azure, Acronis, Office 365, Proofpoint and others. Daily I had to deal directly with customers both via email, remote services and through phone calls on Level 1 through 3 support.

In my position with Brady PLC I was part of a global IT group that provided world class support for both our internal and external customers. In my role as Senior Network Engineer I worked with our internal network in all aspects of the network including; Active Directory administration, Firewall administration (Sophos and Fatpipe/Kerio) and global backup infrastructure(Altaro) to name a few. Externally I was an administrator of our AWS (Amazon Web Services) Cloud environment which is where we were migrating our North American customers. I was also responsible for the remote administration of our various satellite offices throughout the US and acted as a backup for our overseas offices.

I took care of a small local active directory network on site and about 15 local users. Was also responsible for about 100 servers located in both print production and print staging in Dallas, Texas and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. These were both customer/internet facing IIS servers and FTP servers as well as internal SQL and Print Production servers. In my capacity as Network Infrastructure Engineer I was responsible for maintaining all aspects of Xerox's cloud environment, including SQL server administration, IIS security and website setup and updates. And specialty software packages on print production servers such as Flex and Messagepoint. I was also the backup administrator for our IBM Websphere servers that ran our Messagepoint infrastructure.

I was an onsite IT Administrator for 2 locations in the Toledo area. Duties included troubleshooting of sequencing issues on a SQL 2003 database. Just in Time (JIT) plant that supplied parts directly to the Chrysler assembly plants. Backup of data via Backup Exec 12. Administration of 2003 Active Directory. Administration of file servers running in a VMWare GSX server setup. Light SAP administrative duties.

Sr network administrator at Dana’s corporate headquarters in Toledo Ohio for 6 years. SQL database administration on critical financial servers. Responsible for daily trouble tickets, switch/wiring/computer room problems. Led a high visibility project which involved moving data from a Network Appliance NAS device to an EMC Infinity device. This project involved Terabytes of critical production data and affected all departments at Dana’s Automotive Systems Group headquartered in Perrysburg Ohio. In my role as administrator I was also responsible for Imaging of PCs/Laptops using Ghost and Acronis software. End of life and disposal of old equipment and purchasing and research of new equipment. Tier 3 Microsoft server/desktop administrator. Responsible for rollout of Windows XP to hundreds of clients. In my capacity as a rollout manager, we had to coordinate with managers and users to determine needs and timing of migrations.
