This start-up company was set up to develop a catheter based intra-vascular ultrasound scanner. The catheter has a diameter of 1mm with 64 ultrasound elements, so the fact that it produced high quality real-time clinical images is a remarkable technical achievement. I had overall technical control for the development project, and for meeting development milestones, including managing hardware and software projects.. I assisted in raising funds, and keeping existing investors including venture capital partners informed of progress. I built up a substantial patent portfolio and successfully defended a hostile action from a US competitor. The company was acquired by Jomed AG in February 2000, and has moved its operations to
