I am an Associate Professor and Chair of the Communication Department at The Master's University in Southern California, where I have taught since 2002. The Comm. Dept. bachelor's degree offers emphases in Journalism, Creative Writing/Publishing, Speech Communication, and Video Production/Media Arts. Classes I have taught include: Creative Writing, Journal and Autobiographical Writing, Article Writing, Advanced Article Writing, Sports Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Podcast Studio, Video Journalism, The Graphic Novel, Intro to Mass Communication, Science Fiction Writing, Advertising Copywriting, Business Writing and Speaking, English Composition, Advanced Composition, Linguistics, Language Acquisition, British Literature, Advanced Writing Development, Spoken Communication, and The Short Story.I have also helped develop, proctored, and taught several courses in the university's online program. I have been a professional writer since 1997. For six years, I was the senior writer in the Development Department at Grace to You. I also spent five years as a sports writer for The Santa Clarita Signal, where I where received an Associated Press News Executives Council award for sportswriting in 2003 and shared in a National Newspaper Association award for best sports series with The Signal sports staff in 2006. As the owner of a freelance copywriting company (Bob’s Word Factory), I have written for businesses from Los Angeles to New York City. I have written for magazines, TV, radio, the Web, and have been published in several books.
