Grading written answers on the English Language Arts section of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) exam.

Worked as an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) at a public junior high school in Yokohama, Japan. I taught approximately fifteen lessons per week, and was responsible for all lesson planning and material preparation. My primary focus was on teaching listening and speaking skills, using them as a means to improve grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, overall fluency, and cultural understanding. My secondary focus was on reading and writing, usually as a supplement to other listening and speaking activities. I used a variety of games, worksheets, role-plays, puzzles, and other miscellaneous activities, all of which were original creations.

I worked as an Assistant English Teacher for schools in Osaka and rural Hyogo Prefecture (north of Kobe). I mostly taught pronunciation and reviewed previously taught material by way of games or worksheets. In Osaka I did more team-teaching, and took a more active roll in running the class.

I worked as an English conversation teacher, teaching students ranging from elementary school children to retirees, at all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. I was responsible for teaching all four areas of the English language (reading, writing, speaking and listening), lesson planning, creating games, worksheets, and other various other materials to be used in lesson.

Main task was teaching speaking and listening to a wide variety of students. Using basic teaching techniques such as substitution drills, listen and repeat exercises, and role-plays I would help students build oral fluency, confidence, grammatical accuracy and vocabulary.

Three months spent receiving training in Kyrgyz language, teaching techniques, lesson planning, curriculum design, classroom management and cross-cultural awareness, and one month of in-class teaching experience before contracting an illness and receiving a medical discharge.

From May 1999 to September 1999 and from September 2001 to October 2002 I worked on the overnight stock team at Target. In my first stint at Target I was responsible for pulling merchandise from the back store room and preparing it to be put on the sales floor, placed excess merchandise into the proper place in the back store room, and performed an inventory. During my second stint I worked unloading the delivery trucks and placing the new merchandise onto palettes to be either entered into the stock room or placed on the sales floor, as well as reorganizing aisles on the sales floor and placing merchandise on the top shelves.

The summer after I graduated from Western Michigan University I worked as an in-shop employee of Jimmy Johns. I was responsible for working the register, taking customer orders in person and via the telephone, answering customer questions and concerns, making sandwiches, baking bread, cutting meat and vegetables, and performing end of the day tasks like cleaning and inventorying the remaining food.

For two consecutive semesters I worked as an Undergraduate Assistant for two professors, Dr. Charles Crawford and Dr. Ron Kramer, in the Sociology department. I helped them by running errands, making copies, correcting tests and any other minor tasks they needed to get done.

I worked in the Men's Department of a large chain department store. I was responsible for answering customer questions, finding them the merchandise they were looking for, cleaning the department, and manning the fitting rooms, unlocking them for customers and keeping them clean.
