Following the merger of Flutter Entertainment with The Stars Group, the UK&I division is made up of Sky Betting & Gaming, Paddy Power, Betfair and Tombola. I now form part of a larger central architect team, sharing group-wide knowledge, resources, and tech to consolidate and enhance multifactorial capabilities to reach a common goal. The goal being, to have a single data platform able to house and leverage multi-branded data. The challenge being to design solutions that are fit for purpose not only now, but that can scale into the future, as well as delivering real value today.Being aligned to user experience data product teams, I am assisting with ways to personalise user experiences across the various brands. This involves:- • Adjusting the systems and process flows to allow for faster and more varied experiments. • From a data perspective we need to bring together all the data from the various brands - After recently migrating SBG's data to GCP we now need to ingest data to the UK&I data platform with resides on AWS (Redshift) • Modelling Multi-Brand data with either existing, well known, metrics or new metrics • Uniform metrics across the group - Some common metrics are calculated very differently - Some metrics are named different but are effectively the same thing - Ensuring data is at the same grain • On-boarding SBG data into existing self-serve platform (Redshift -> Looker) • Introducing the concept of on-site attribution modelling, where we can monitor hits / customer journey and assign / understand value of experiments. • As part of a larger goal to have a single back-end systems (Rather than having multiple systems serve the various brands), we are also looking at ways to gravitate toward this. - Cleansing processes - Uniforming processes / modelled data sets - Understanding and highlighting the best of brands (I.e. Best Data Science Models, in-app features not deployed across all brands etc..)

Working with Sky Betting and Gaming in the Data Tribe, my role involves overseeing a migration of the data platform from Apache Impala to GCP. In addition to the platform move we are introducing new self-serve capabilities across the stack (I.e. Access to all raw / curated data, ETL and Analytics).I am working closely with the Business Intelligence and Data Engineering teams, to introduce data warehousing and self-serve analytics. Moving away from Business Objects and using Looker for a more interactive analytics experience. I am assisting with the design, training and cultural challenges to segue into this new world.

My role at ao.com is to govern and maintain a quality workflow of insightful data within the organisation. Being responsible for:-• Business Intelligence Team - Providing an insightful analytical platform, using Microsoft's BI Stack (SSRS, SSIS and SSAS).• Data Engineering Team - Centralising the processing and presentation of data, allowing flexibility under the hood for tech choices. Implementing a layered approach to modelling data from raw, to transformed (with business logic) to star schema (Ralph Kimball).• Data Driven Development Team - Developing tailored applications for in-house data management and analytics.• Data Science - Providing deep analytical insights and data engineering• Data Management –SQL Data Catalogue with classification, user access visibility. Mapping out business concepts and entities.• ERP Transformation – Supporting the business on breaking down our monolithic core application and separating standard off the shelf products (Dynamics 365) with custom in-house systems that will differentiate us from our competitors. From a data perspective understanding the implications of mastering data in another location as well as understanding the impact to fragmented reference data.• Directing and supporting the businesses information needs• Understanding and supporting business critical processes, and optimising where possible.• Ensuring all team members have clear personal objectives (OKR’s) that are in line with objectives of the department. Moving on to act as the Business Intelligence team lead, it is is my responsibility to:-• Manage two work streams: Operational BI (Traditional Reporting and Analytics) and Data Driven Development (Developing software allowing end users to physically make decisions of the back of insightful data).• Own, develop and direct the companies need for information - Using SQL Server BI Stack - Developing in-house software that make large amounts of information easy to interpret and manage, such as Google / Bing Pay Per Click, Pricing / Stock Models.• Facilitate work coming into the teams, negotiating time scales with Project Managers and understanding Business Requirements with Business Analysts and End Users.• Supervise developers and help to deliver high quality solutions in a timely fashion. Working in "Sprints by Feature" rather than "Sprints by Time", where possible.• Adopt Agile development, keeping abreast projects that deliver the highest value to the company.• Ensuring that my team has a clear vision aligned with the companies own vision.• Perform regular 121's and make sure that each team member has a clear personal development plan.• Create an environment in which developers can thrive, encouraging cross team development and allowing time for freedom to be creative and explore new solutions not bound by technology.

The company I currently work for deals with the selling of white goods across the UK and is currently one of the market leaders in this area. My role as a Business Intelligence involved:-• Understanding all areas of the business and how they operate.• Exploring new technologies which may potentially benefit the business.• Design and develop architecture of Data Warehouse / Data Marts, adopting Ralph Kimball Methodology (Single Data Warehouse separating Data Marts with Database Schemas)• With the use of SSIS, load data warehouse in near-real time where possible - Structuring packages to run as efficiently as possible.• Producing Layout Driven Reports, which are used both across the business and sent to external clients (SSRS), pointing to the data warehouse where possible, keeping one version of the truth• Developing real-time dashboards, which are displayed around the business• Create in house reports to show report usage and execution times in an attempt to improve slowly running reports and identify potential subscriptions.• Use performance tuner to fine tune indexing• Interrogate execution plans to highlight badly designed queries• Develop OLAP Cube’s for the business to slice and dice data, performing deep analysis of the data (SSAS)• Share knowledge, mentor junior report writers and share any new journeys with the team. Helping to increase enthusiasm for the job.

Working in the public sector as a Lead Information Systems Officer for Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council in both the Social Care and Education Department. This role involves:-• Administering and supporting both the Social Care and Education systems.• Provide support with internal services and external agencies to develop and maintain the Child Care and Education Systems.• Developing Layout Driven reports such as BVPI’s and National indicators, using Business Objects as a self service BI solution, Crystal Reports and Oracle SQL.• Develop Ad-Hoc reports across sections to help aid in identifying issues around the council.• Provide high quality information for Executive Leaders, Heads of Service and other Managers.• Attend relevant Local, Regional and National Meeting/Seminars as an information and technical specialist.• Supervision of the helpdesk and the staff• Assisting the managers in Social Care and Education to develop, and test the successfulness of upgrades within the authority.Other areas of this role which fall outside of job title:-• As a valuable worker for RMBC, my post had been split into two (Across both Social Care and Education) and doing the job of two workers, which meant I was to carefully prioritise workload. • Perform T-SQL statements on the database to maintain data integrity, and perform tasks which are not possible through the front end application• Create small data warehouses to help ease with report writing using SSIS• Develop Triggers and Alerts to ensure that data being bulk-logged into the database is done in the correct way, and if not, operators are notified of the issue.• Create / Amend Views and Stored Procedures to make reporting easier for other technical staff.• Carry out personal development with help desk staff to help improve their knowledge and understanding of SQL Server / Business Objects / Crystal Report Writing.
