I am a degree qualified manufacturing systems professional with over 25 years’ experience in general manufacturing, automotive and medical industries. As a manufacturing systems engineer I was taught to design, manage and maintain complex systems, by the efficient use of resources in the form of men, materials and machinery, so that the individual sub systems making up the overall system can be designed, fitted together, checked and operated in the most efficient way. As a systems engineer I was taught such systems tools and techniques as TQM, FMEA, Taguchi, Input/Output analysis, SPC, Poka Yoke, QFD, JIT, Kanban, SMED and Line balancing.Working as an engineer I have gained extensive experience in project and production engineering, new model introductions from concept through to full production, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing. I have many years’ experience of manual and automated assembly on both single stations and complex production lines. I have seven years experience of managing a maintenance department, developing maintenance strategies and introducing TPM systems. I have also gained experience in using the tools and techniques above and added to them. I am also now experienced in Work study, Ergonomic principles and techniques, Anthropology and workstation design, 5S, Genba Kanri, Kaizen, Auto Quality, Problem solving, Process Flow Analysis, Work study, TPM, Standard Operation Sheets, Design For Assembly and Design For Manufacture.
