I started my career in precision machining in 2012 as a Mold Operation Specialist. I took that experience and began my journey with Caterpillar in Mapleton, IL in May 2018. During this time, I was quickly learning how to operate lathes, IBGs, mills, and CMM machines. While working for one of the largest manufacturing lines in CAT, we manufactured liners and cylinder heads EMD engines, Inline, 3500/3600 engines which can be found in equipment like mining trucks and hospital generators. In December 2018, I moved to the Quality Team where I got the chance to dive deep into the manufacturing process of the cylinder heads as the Quality Coordinator. From creating quality gates to running test sampling for the foundry, one of things I love to do is data reporting. I have found that showing information to the team about their work can easily aid in team building with process improvement ideas and encourages the team to take pride in their work. The end game is to work together to eliminate reoccurring defects and working with new customers around the world. It is extremely rewarding being a part of something new and challenging every day. Currently, I am employed as a Product Quality Engineer at Dormakaba Ilco. Dormakaba is the biggest manufacture of Key and Cylinder door lock in North America. During this role, I got the opportunity to work closely with OEM and aftermarket customers on PPAPs, Customer Audits, Customer Complaints, RCCAs. This allowed me to create corrective action teams with the plant to help tackle issues that the customer was introduced to and to help improve the plants overall process and growth. This role has also allowed me to lead Quality Team members in internal RCCAs and In-Process Inspections as well as train techs and production operators how to how Calipers, micrometers, Keyence vision systems, Comparators, and Surf-O-meter.I am always looking to grow both professionally and personally by learning as much as I can about all facets of machine building, design, and lean manufacturing.
