Provides content expertise on CMS conditions of participation and The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards interpretation. Conducted site visits to 6 member hospitals, compiled results and wrote draft action plan for Surgeon General review and approval.• Collaborate with Directorate of Strategy and Innovation, and Office of the Chief Medical Information Officer to define a clinical best practice transfer process, along with efforts to standardize the inpatient electronic medical record to include patient safety focused enhancements.• Member of DoD Infection Control Prevention Panel and Perinatal Advisory Board. Alternate member of DoD Clinical Quality Forum, Clinical Measures Steering Committee, & Scientific Advisory Panel.• Manage $1 million Joint Commission Contract.• Chair MEDCOM regional infection control practitioner group, focused on aligning MEDCOM infection control efforts with Army and DoD goals.

Planned and executed annual budget of $5.3 million.• Identified fetal monitoring as high-risk area and secured $1.5 million from DoD to fund standardized fetal monitoring, and perinatal and neonatal education. • Hired medical team trainer, resulting in additional 700 trained Obstetrics and Anesthesia team members, and training of 150 AMEDD staff at 3-day patient safety/risk management course. • Pioneered development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of AMEDD Patient Safety Program (PSP). Managed combined $3.8 million Patient Safety (PS) budget.• Represented MEDCOM on DoD Patient Safety Planning and Coordinating Committee. Served as The Surgeon General's representative to advisory body of Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, to identify, design, and implement PS initiatives throughout the Military Health System.• Secured $650,000 of $800,000 Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ) funds for healthcare research and quality for Patient Safety pilot programs at two member hospitals.• Led multidisciplinary working groups to standardize policies, improving medication reconciliation and high alert medication error prevention. Devised methodology for gaining member hospital subject matter expert input into corporate policy content. – Reduced anesthesia-related sentinel events to zero and sustained gain for more than 15 months.– Secured $1.1 million in external funding to advance and align corporate PSP with Institute for Health Care Improvement's Rapid Response Team concepts. • Facilitated Command-supported, dental-specific event policy unmatched in civilian dental community.• Received, tracked and trended all patient safety events from member facilities. Identified trends in sentinel events, convened expert panels, developed corrective action plans and published policies.
