I secured an exciting placement opportunity working for Nissan within Information Systems working in the application support department for the SMAF team (Sales, Marketing, Admin and Finance). I managed select Nissan applications, such as troubleshooting VMS (Variable Market Support) addressing major issues by working closely with the support team and the users implementing robust solutions. I was responsible for the start-up of the application Roadmaps. I took the lead on the creation and presentation of the service delivery scorecard to management. I gained an understanding of what service governance and what a managed contract consists of and how they should be run. I took lead roles in meetings including CAB meeting (Change Advisory Board), the SMAF daily production call with the responsibility of discussing and approving changes. The daily production call is an overall view of the ticket levels and a service delivery governance opportunity to discuss any issues or concerns with the managed service provider. I took the opportunity to become the SME (Subject Matter Expert) on how a managed service should be run, this required discussions with all SMAF SME’s on the issues to be raised in separate discussions with the managed service provider. I had responsibility for the creation of area service reviews which involved creating presentations and data compilation of how the service is running for a particular area, as well as the creation of the Nissan internal “Niki” site - a Wikipedia page for Nissan users to upload any information on their role to assist with knowledge sharing and to fill knowledge gaps. I also undertook vital administrative roles such as finance Auditing (JSOX) and auditing of Nissan’s ticket management system (ServiceNow). Nissan Information Systems are the client for my final year graduation project to develop and improve the ticket management system.

My course also covers all the fundamentals of computing, core topics include Information systems, investigating and resolving computer/programme concerns, web applications, database systems, programming and software development. The role demanded good communication skills, responsibility for cash handling, and an ability to work under pressure. These are vital life skills that I envisage would be required for a career in forensic computing when continuity, collating and presenting facts in an evidential manner are vital.
