The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is a state agency which is made up of a collection of different organizations. These organizations include The Massachusetts Highway Department, The Registry of Motor Vehicles, The Merit Rating Board, The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority and The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.1. My primary role at the organization is to make sure the organization passed the Payment Card Industry audit for maintenance standards.2. I worked with a vendor to implement Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager across all 7 domains. I developed the patching schedule, gathered server owner information for notifications, configured all of the automated patch deployments schedules, built the distribution points and handled all SCCM client deployments.3. I reset the SNMP community string on over 700 printers through the state and reset the device passwords. I also finished the print server migration that had been previously started by a colleague.4. I deployed the company’s asset inventory system and licenses tracking software. The software used is LAN Sweeper.

1. Monitoring and maintaining workstations and servers and the programs running on them.2. Served as the project lead on many projects developing, implementing and documenting new network and infrastructure designs as well as adding to existing networks.3. Supporting day to day operations of the client’s environment as well as supporting the recovery of a client’s environment in the event of a disaster recovery situation and conducting disaster recovery tests.4. Served as an escalation point for the helpdesk.5. Worked with internal resources such as specialized teams and vendors to diagnose and resolve issues.6. Served as a consultant, recommending software and hardware solutions to implement and configuration changes to improve network reliability and performance.

My duties consist of maintaining our server infrastructure and managing different projects for new implementations and upgrades. I maintain both windows and Linux systems and all services provided by these servers. I handle all matters related to active directory user account and mailbox management. I create automation programs in python, power shell, vbscript for Active directory management and other tasks as needed. I manage our clustered exchange environment, email archive system, file server, DHCP server, web servers and DNS servers. I alternate the websites hosted on my server as needed. The type of code I am familiar with is html, css, asp and php. I handle the creation of SQL databases and implement software that utilizes these databases. I manage the backups for our critical infrastructure using data domain and tape backup. I maintain our VMware infrastructure and our Citrix farm. Some of the projects I have worked on include, migrating our network to the current domain, migrating from server 2003 to server 2008 and implementing a new digital sending system from HP which replaced our previous E-Copy solution. I am involved in the information assurance program. I am the instructor for the class and I manage the materials that are taught in the class. I work closely with the information assurance manager to ensure the program meets the requirements of today’s standards.

While oversees my primary duties were systems administration and customer support for the largest battalion that has ever deployed to Kuwait or Iraq since the start of the war. I managed the active directory OU for our battalion of 1200 soldiers. I managed all of our distribution groups, security groups, user accounts and computer objects in active directory. I installed all of the battalions Cisco switches for both NIPRNET and SIPRNET (Secure communications network) and I ran all of the cable for the battalion area of operation which is about one quarter mile squared. I repaired and moved phone lines on our DSN system. I added and managed all printers in our area on the local print servers. I handled all the reimaging of our computers. I created and managed all of the backups for important machines and our share folders to include our SharePoint directory. I manage our SharePoint site, primarily adding and removing users to the security groups. I troubleshot day to day end user issues. I troubleshot issues with PKI certificates and the software used with them. My additional duties included communication security custodian and Information assurance security officer. As the communication security custodian I managed all of the encryption keys for our battalion. I kept track of all the keys and handled the paperwork for the key destruction. I maintained all the devices in the battalion for transporting and using the encryption for our radios and TACLANEs (Tactical Local Area Network Encryption) devices.

While working for Advanced Computer Solutions I worked on a very wide variety of systems handling 426 different companies IT assets. I installed and configured networks, servers and hosts. I have experience configuring Net screen firewalls, Cisco pix firewalls, Cisco switches and routers. I configured VPNs for tunneling networks across multiple sites. I deployed and managed over 300 Windows 2003 servers serving many different roles. I upgraded and replaced well over 1000 windows desktops and laptops. I managed active directory, GPOs, security groups and distribution groups for most of the companies I supported. I created logon scripts for mapping network drives and printers. I worked with Blackberry Enterprise Servers, Custom database software, terminal servers, DHCP servers, SQL servers, File servers, DNS servers, Exchange servers, Domain controllers, Novel servers for printing and file sharing, print servers, FTP servers, servers running IIS for internal and external sites and other types of server roles. I configured thin clients for use with the terminal servers. I created images for the thin clients, laptops, desktops and servers with Acronis true image, image-x (from the Windows automated installation kit) and Symantec ghost and deployed them over the network. I created images for operating systems such as Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Ubuntu Linux. I ran vulnerability scans and patched servers and workstations. I maintained all of the backups for the servers. I used many different types of backup software such as Retrospect, Symantec backup exec. I have experience with many different types of remote access software such as RDP, Log me in and Go to my pc. I performed duties of a bench technician troubleshooting and replacing hardware on the workstations, laptops and servers. I worked with ISPs and private email and web hosting companies on the customer’s behalf. I consulted those companies that had IT personnel on how to secure their systems.
