Sr Network Engineer
CurrentSenior Network Engineer for NASA Mission Operations Communications Network (NASCOM). Design, provision, and maintain wide-area network services for NASCOM customers, including NASA centers, universities, and research institutions. Manage spacecraft to end-user communications.Evaluate customer requirements, recommend, implement, test, and support solutions. Work with major WAN technologies including IP, ATM, Ethernet, FDDI, T1, and T3.Optimize network routing in core and distribution layers using BGP4, OSPF, and RIP.Support Cisco Routers, Switches, and Pix/ASA Firewalls. Support Juniper M, J, MX routers, EX switches, and Netscreen / SSG Firewalls.Responsible for the analysis of networking needs by translating user network application into bandwidth requirements.Considers necessary raw bandwidth latency, quality of service and cost effectiveness when recommending solutions.Manage large and small projects.Active Secret Clearance awarded 10 Dec 08.
