Identifying prospective client’s needs and sales, plan and execute OHS training courses, development of Occupational Health and Safety Management plans are all part of my daily tasks. I also do implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Management plans, risk assessment facilitation and implementation of hazard controls. With a general knowledge of elementary physics, chemistry and mechanics; technical firefighting principles and techniques; and principles of hydraulics applied to fire suppression; street system and physical layout of the city; emergency care methods, techniques and equipment; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with fellow employees and the public; ability to keep simple records and prepare reports; possess a strong mechanical aptitude; ability to perform heavy manual labour; skill in operation of heavy emergency equipment.

Responding to alarms, driving and operating equipment and related apparatus and assisting in the suppression of fires, including rescue, advancing lines, entry, ventilation and salvage work, extrication and emergency medical care of victims. Performing cleanup and overhaul work, establishing temporary utility services. Assisting in maintaining and repairing fire apparatus and equipment, and cleaning fire stations and grounds. Checking fire hydrant flows. Making fire code inspections of business establishments and prepares pre-fire plans.Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, pumping out of basements, inspecting for gas leaks, securing vehicle accidents, inspecting chimneys, etc. Participating in continuous training and instruction programs by individual study of technical material and attendance at scheduled drills and classes.Conducting station tours for the public, school, and community demonstrations and programs. Back up for dispatching personnel, monitoring of alarm boards, receiving and transmitting radio and telephone messages. Performing related tasks as necessary.
