I hold PGCE and CELTA qualifications, and have been teaching the Cambridge Checkpoint ESL and English syllabuses at the Key Stage 4 level for the past 3 years, at an international school in Hanoi, Vietnam. I've consistently gained the highest possible marks from formal observations, with particular regard to my passionate and communicative teaching style, classroom management and high quality resources. While teaching and managing at language centres I also became familiar with the Cambridge KET and PET tests, and ran preparation classes for these examinations.I'm particularly enjoying teaching the Checkpoint English course: after five years of teaching ESL in language centres, it has been great to employ the skills and knowledge I gained studying English Literature at university. I've recently been promoted to Lead Teacher Trainer / Head of Professional Development within the secondary department at my school, and am planning a course of workshops for teachers.I've coordinated and run a variety of extra-curricular activities within my department: theater, film, formal debates, board games and the school magazine. In my free time I'm an accomplished rock and jazz drummer, and am currently running a 'rock band' programme at my school, teaching music to and performing with students. I took part in large theatrical productions in the UK, and now incorporate drama and acting into the English syllabus that I run with my classes.On top of this, I'm one of 4 people running 'Noise Hanoi', as of March 2024 - a music website and promoter within Vietnam. For this I am involved in upkeep of their website, social media, event organisation and writing feature articles.
