As General Manager, I am ultimately responsible for meeting/exceeding clinical and financial targets, ensuring that patients receive exceptional care, working with pharma industry leaders to increase drug access for our health care system, working with third party payors to gain access to their specialty networks, and more.

In my current position as Regional Satellite Pharmacy Manager I manage the day to day operations and ongoing projects described below for the St. Petersburg location.  In addition I am also responsible for monitoring and directing the clinical and professional activities of the other satellite pharmacy locations. This includes ensuring that satellite locations provide excellent customer service, and that they meet all legal, licensure, and certification requirements.  I communicate daily with the pharmacy managers to disseminate pertinent information and to find out about any challenges or noteworthy experiences they have encountered. My responsibilities also include oversight of inventory activities by the satellite pharmacies.  Each pharmacy completes a monthly inventory that I review for accuracy and discrepancies. My role in the MTM program is not only to complete MTM cases but to assign cases to the satellite pharmacists and monitor for completion.  I oversee the Patient Management Program for satellite locations and participate in Continuous Quality Improvement Committee meetings. I am a member of the Compliance Committee and Clinical Oversight Committee. I also serve as one of the two Senior Clinical Staff Members for the company.  In this position I strive to serve as a role model for the satellite pharmacists by leading by example. I complete monthly Fraud, Waste, and Abuse audits for each satellite location, as well as random chart reviews, DUR and patient outcomes analysis, and compliance audits. I present my findings to the management team quarterly.  In my current role I also create and oversee the satellite pharmacy quality improvement projects.

In this position I was given the opportunity to open a new pharmacy location from the ground up. This has included applying for DEA and medicaid licensure, applying for private insurance contracts with multiple insurers and working with the medical staff to create a drug formulary. This position hinges on my relationship with the medical staff, creating basic working friendships and building trust has been key to growing the pharmacy’s patient base. I ensure that the staff knows they can count on me to take care of their patients with the utmost care. This care includes making sure they are paying the least possible amount for their medications. I do this by first assessing their assistance eligibility, then signing them up for the appropriate financial aid(s). I work with pharmacy team members to expedite the delivery of any prescriptions that are identified as urgent. Another service that I provide the staff and patients is assisting with and completing prior authorizations. Most of the time I am able to do this autonomously without having to interrupt the medical staff for information. I also lead the coordination of the pharmacy portion of the PrEP and nPEP program with the on site primary care office. This included creating a policy and procedure for handling routine PrEP prescriptions as well as emergency nPEP situations. On top of these tasks and projects I also provide medication counseling and consulting to medical staff and patients. I am responsible for meeting a quota of data entry and prescription verification of which I regularly exceed. Additionally, I manage all refill requests involving the providers in the clinic.
