I've just updated my original book. Renamed "The Little Book of Project Management Wisdom", this update is crisper and easier to read. For those not familiar with it, the book contains things I learned when I worked at Dell, EMC, Data General, Olivetti and Siemens-Nixdorf. It's not just a book for project managers. I've tried my best to provide an even perspective from all sides to help client sponsors, PS sales folk, and delivery resources.

I'm the author and editor of "Give Your Project Wings!" which is a book based on my 40 years of experience in the information technology field. The book is written to help IT executives, vendor salespeople and project resources and provides tips on making projects more successful.

Program / Project Manager covering Bank of Montreal (Canada/USA) and Royal Bank (International) Projects for Dell EMC. Managed Cloud / Data Protection projects and migrations. Solutions deployed include DELL EMC ECS , Data Domain and Avamar technologies. Managed and mentored overseas project resources to deploy for onshore projects.

Canada

Charged with improving the customer’s delivery experience in the account. Projects are distributed across 5 business units at 16 data centers over 5 time zones. Implemented new processes to improve deployment of diverse IT technologies including EMC data storage, Data Domain, backup/recovery technologies, ECS cloud technologies, and ViPR management tools. These program improvement efforts have yielded increased efficiencies, speed of deployment, delivery consistency and significant improvements in communications across the program. Canada

Temporary corporate assignment as regional lead and instructor for SAP business transformation project (R2 and R3 Propel CPM, MRS and ESS modules). Provided transitional leadership to over 200 project / program managers, resource managers and project accountants in USA and Canada. • Awarded 4 EMC Excellence Awards for performance during this project. • Conducted application testing and provided feedback to developers for bug fixes and enhancements.• Created regional support documentation for rollout.• Delivered SAP training in US and India to 90 Project managers.

Canada

Responsible for management of 3 strategic data consolidation projects covering multiple business units, hosts and fabrics. Primary goal was to reduce operational costs and increase managed services margins. Provided guidance and leadership to cross-functional teams consisting of DBAs and server, storage, network and SAN admins. Project resulted in achievement of the goals on time and on budget. • Per the client, “saved millions in operations cost.”• Project was recognized by client for “International Diamond Award” as one of the top worldwide projects in 2012-2013. • Won Q1-2014 EMC Excellence Award for delivery execution.• Managed fabric migration of 30 fiber channel switches and directors across 4 data centers.• Led enterprise migration from 25 HP EVA/XP arrays to EMC technology with 800 hosts (HPUX, AIX, VMWare, Windows, mainframe).• Managed EMC phase of Data Center physical relocation.

Effectively managed enterprise SAN projects across multiple business sectors and platforms. Responsible for management of projects covering storage, replication and archiving technologies. The technologies included SAN, NAS, CAS, VMAX, VNX, CLARiiON, Symmetrix, SRDF, DPA, ViPR, EMCC, Mirrorview, DMX, Celerra, Centera, Connectrix, Brocade, Legato, Data Domain and Cisco. Managed sensitive data migrations between EMC, NETAPP, IBM, HP and HDS storage platforms and various open system and mainframe platforms using multiple migration methodologies. Primary business sectors were banking, retail, healthcare and service provider. • Managed host, array, and SAN fabric-based migrations including data collection, analysis, planning and execution.• Managed the planning, design and implementation of email archiving, e-mail (Exchange), multi-site replication, healthcare PACs infrastructure and backup and recovery environments. • Facilitated performance analysis and workload balancing

Vancouver, Canada Area

Service Account ManagerService Account Manager (SAM). Responsible for developing and maintaining national support program for a storage array reseller with an installed base of over 300 arrays.• Implemented comprehensive account support guide and support process to guide the support organization. • Improved response quality and support efficiency resulting in increased customer satisfaction. • Negotiated support contacts, maintenance pricing, and rolled out process nationally.• Managed support escalations and problem management when required

Managed information technology service operations for Ontario district including field service, repair centre operation, system integration/configuration centre and logistics operation. Objectives included maintaining high levels of customer service and satisfaction, response management, profitability, cost and effective capacity control, and ongoing quality improvements. Project Managed staging and test center for a major Canada Post Project involving the rollout of 2,000 systems. Reporting to Director, Customer Service.

Responsible for management of Canadian Logistics department, including computer systems repair centre and spare parts operations. Duties included management of staff of 7, maintaining effective repair cycle times, spare parts inventory management, purchasing, international import and export of materials, and ensuring parts were delivered to customers across Canada in a timely and efficient manner. Successfully maintained over 95% order fill rates to customers.

Managed $2 million spare parts distribution centre for Olivetti, an office automation company. Customers included Olivetti Dealers and internal clients. Responsible areas included all facets of parts distribution including purchasing, receiving, distribution, inventory control, and invoicing. Managed a staff of 10 employees.
