In January 2019 after a near four year partnership with Seed, Star Investment Partners was born. Essentially nothing changed operationally other than in March 2019 Star launched two South African unit trust funds to add to the range of global and local model and bespoke managed portfolios. Star continues to work closely with our Independent Financial Adviser partners to provide professionally managed investment solutions for their clients. What has changed is on the investment front. Where previously we applied conventional asset allocation and diversification to manage downside risk in our portfolios we no longer do so. After many years of research, analysis and application in bespoke portfolios we concluded that on average balanced unit trust portfolios have an unnecessary over-exposure to risk assets. The needs of most end consumer investors and their advisers are not met by this unnecessary level of risk and the potential under performance being offered. This is particularly true within the living annuity space but equally so in discretionary and retirement savings. Since the launch of our Star Prime Stable and Star Prime Balanced funds we have proven our investment approach works exactly as planned in pooled portfolios making the individual investor journey less volatile, providing more reliable positive returns all the while keeping longer term higher target returns firmly in mind.

Currently the Managing Director to this fast-growing company, based primarily in the Cape Town area, and branching out across the Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal regions. I joined Alpha Asset Management to develop the institutional sales of the business, shortly after joining several internal developments occurred and the global financial crisis afforded me the opportunity to serve as a Director and Chief Operating Officer.

Started Hollard Wealth Management as a green field operation to provide vital Investment services to other Hollard Group Companies and Financial Intermediaries seeking an independent, functional and diverse investment platform. The objective was to remain a niche player in a largely over traded market and to this end Hollard partnered with select investment and intermediary businesses.
