Since establishing Galbally Rolfe with Brian Rolfe in 1976 Robert Galbally has provided advice and representation to defendants in a variety of significant criminal law matters around Australia. He has appeared on behalf of defendants in major Supreme Court and County Court trials for matters including murder, fraud, rape, armed robbery and conspiracy.Robert began practicing law with Mr Frank Galbally at Galbally & O’Bryan in 1966 and continued employment at that firm until 1973, at which time he signed the Roll of Counsel and joined the Victorian Bar. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1971 and was shortly afterwards admitted to the Supreme Courts of New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania and the High Court of Australia.Robert has appeared in a wide variety of matters throughout these jurisdictions, including the Royal Commission into Painters and Dockers and the NSW Royal Commission into Police. He has also made numerous appearances in the Federal Court and at various tribunals and boards including ASIC, the Psychologists Board, Medical Practitioners Board and the Coroners Court.A Foundation member of the Criminal Law Committee of the Law Institute of Victoria, Robert was subsequently its Deputy Chairman, Criminal Law Section.
