I am responsible for supporting biomedical scientists in the laboratories primarily in a clerical capacity. I am a member of a team committed to the provision of an efficient and satisfactory service. Ensuring that standards and quality are maintained.There is a rotational aspect to the job including time in specimen reception/processing area and also the main laboratory. My duties include performing triage and data entry of samples on to the laboratory computer system and preparing them for analysis. I also perform additional duties to assist in the running of the laboratory.

I was involved with all departments of the company. I spent the majority of my time in the engineering team, from when it was formed in October. I was responsible for the CAD element of the team. This included modelling tools, fixtures and parts to be made for aerospace, oil and gas, transport and medical industries. My other responsibilities included sourcing and ordering tools. This involved communication by telephone, email and face to face with companies from India to America. I assisted the engineering manager and other engineers on the manufacturing project for an aerospace company, this included monitoring the project schedule, meeting with the client, coordinating material and the procurement of resources. the All my actions required integration with other members of the engineering team and wider company. During the placement I attended a lean manufacturing course, with the intention of applying what I learnt to the company. My time there gave me an insight to a manufacturing environment and the importance of working in an engineering team. It has helped develop my desired career path in engineering.

I was designing and assembling a racing motorcycle on CAD software. I was one of two people involved in this project and I was the only team member exclusively working on the project. I was solely responsible for the Solid Works design. This meant I spent the majority of my time working independently. The project involved me taking the basic 2D outline drawn by a BBC F1 technical analyst. I then used the dimensions from the drawing, several components and the motorcycle we were basing the design on. During my time I had completed a basic 3D model of the bike including most of the key components. My time at Scott and Stinson Engineering has helped to fuel my passion for engineering and my desire to work on another design project.
