As a youth, having made the decision to involve myself with gangs, I took on an ideology that eventually earned me a 30-year prison sentence for armed robbery and assault. During my stay in prison I made a conscious effort to better myself through numerous self-improvement classes, vocational courses, and the higher education college classes that were available to me. Through these collective efforts, I was able to lessen my time in prison to 21½ years.As a student and teacher’s aide of The Last Mile’s Code.7370 web development program, I learned the necessary tools and skills to develop and design websites and web applications, while in prison without access to the internet. From front-end languages and libraries such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, Bootstrap, and React, to back-end frameworks and database programs including Node.js, Express, MySQL, and MongoDB.
