"Green Chain" Off bearers are responsible for:- Sorting and stacking freshly "peeled" veneer. The three main wood species peeled are doug fir, white fir and pine. Peeled wood strips are removed by Off - bearers from a very rapidly moving chain and stacked in metal carts.- Safe work practices. Proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required at all times and is strictly enforced by supervisors. "Horseplay" and/or carelessness of any form can quickly lead to work - contract termination.- Pass a probationary period (usually 30 or more days). During this period individuals must prove that they retain a motivated and safe work ethic, can effectively cooperate and communicate with co - workers, stack carts quickly and neatly, and most importantly, that they show up on time as scheduled.

Members of the Salmon River Hotshots (wild-land firefighting crew) are trained in: - Suppression, management and/or monitoring of wild-land fires. Wild-land fires (natural and human - caused) occur throughout the United States, generally during the months of May and October. Most interagency Hotshot crews, including the Salmon River Hotshots, are national resources and can be mobilized (if not already assigned to an active wildfire) to just about any state throughout the United States.- Safe and effective utilization of a variety of tools including: Chainsaws (STIHL, Husqvarna), Shovels, Pulaskis, and Rakes. All are essential in wild-land fire suppression / management. - Withstand physically arduous working conditions. To properly train for this, the Salmon River Hotshots undergo daily exercise routines which include hiking, running, and a variety of aesthetics.Expectancies of a Salmon River Hotshot include:- Proper appearance at all times, especially while in public.- Full - time commitment (especially during . There is generally a minimum amount of members (usually 16 persons) that a crew must retain to be available for a fire assignment. With too many absentees, a crew can potentially be put on hold - it is therefore of utter importance that all members of a crew are committed for the duration of the fire season.- Absolutely no alcohol / drug use during training, during fire suppression, while in government vehicles or on government premises.

Along with a variety of traditional fondues, the "Stalla Alp" serves a number of other cheese dishes (e.g. Swiss cheesy bread or "Chaesschnitte"; a specialty cheese and potato dish called "Raclette; cold Swiss cheese/meat platters). In addition, winter - sport enthusiasts always find a good selection of Swiss white and red wines to complement their "Stalla Alp" experience.Some of the duties as a "Stalla Alp" Cook included:- Always follow strictly enforced personal hygienic, as well as food handling standards - Arrive on time (there was usually an early morning "employee - only" gondola ride)- Prepare food items (e.g. platters, various vegetables, fires for the "Raclette") before restaurant opening to expedite serving time during rush hours- Interact with an international clientele.
