As an engineer and cardiac surgeon, I have dedicated my career to advancing the care of patients with structural heart disease. My roles at the University of Pennsylvania, ŌNŌCOR, LLC and MAJORO, LLC have allowed me to lead initiatives directed at translating basic scientific discoveries into groundbreaking treatments. Extensive laboratory work and clinical experience underpin my success in developing novel and impactful therapies for structural heart disease.My 35 year-long leadership experience in cardiovascular research has fostered a highly collaborative environment that has extended across the United States, Europe and Asia, resulting in scientific excellence and innovation. Our team has navigated the complexities of both laboratory and clinical research to make highly impactful contributions to the care of patients with structural heart disease. This has been accomplished through a thorough understanding of bioengineering principles, surgical techniques, cardiac interventional technology and cardiovascular pathophysiology. Our collective efforts have redefined patient care through the development of novel therapeutic devices including: the saddle-shaped mitral annuloplasty ring, transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR-MAJORO, LLC) and the ŌNŌ retrieval catheter (ŌNŌCOR, LLC).
