I have been a security practitioner for the past 26 years. I joined the British Transport Police (BTP)in1990 and trained and attended the Home Office Crime Prevention and Architectural Liaison Officer Course and Security Services Counter Terrorism Protection course. I specialised in advising the London Underground and Docklands Light Railway (DLR) between 1999 and 2005 before joining Serco Docklands in 2005 as the Operational Security Manager, where i have been responsible for developing and delivering security strategy, policy and procedures for the railway. I developed and implemented the Olympic and Paralympics Security plan for the DLR. In 2007, under my leadership, the DLR became the first urban railway to do so. Ii have also been responsible for developing and implementing the DLR Security Programme. As part of my current role I was responsible for delivering a Travel Safe Officer (TSO)) solution for the railway to enhance security and deliver counter terrorism mitigations.. In 2009 the TSO team, in partnership with our DLR BTP Team, were the first ever winners of the IFSEC Police Partnership award..I have a Diploma in Security, with Distinction, from the Security Institute and am a Member of the Security Institute (MSyI). I was awarded the Business Continuity Institute, Diploma in Business Continuity Management (DBCI) in 2005 and have Associate Member of the BCI. I recently completed a British Computer Society Certificate in Information Security Management Principles and have Associate Membership of BCS. These additional qualification and memberships reflect my responsibilities in regard to resilience, incident management and Information Security Management, throughout my time working on the DLR.
