I work as a delivery manager on two projects.The first is managing a service called Explore Local Statistics. This allows users to find, compare and visualise local data across the UK in one place.Explore Local Statistics won the Campion Award for Excellence in Official Statistics at the 2024 Royal Statistical Society awards.The other project aims to improve the way we do health content at the ONS.

I worked in the delivery of various parts of Census 2021 at the ONS.These included:- Data dictionary. I managed a team across Census Outputs and Digital Publishing to publish our canonical records of Census 2021 metadata, which helps users make sense of our datasets. We innovated a automated process to publish hundreds of pages from our source metadata.- Census calculations: I wrote R scripts to process data that underpinned our various Census articles, bulletins and data visualisations. This involved calculating percentages, value changes, percentage changes, index scores and median ages for millions of data points.- Census Maps won the "Excellence in Geo-visualisation" category at the 2023 Geography in Government awards.- Nomis. I acted as the liaison between ONS and Nomis, making sure they had everything they need to republish Census data on their site along with their bulk data and area profiles products.

I managed a team of two other people at ONS, in charge of expanding the range of statistics available on our new open data tool, Customise My Data (CMD).In this role I designed a process for publishing and maintaining data on to CMD. It involved a combination of technical expertise to transform the statistics into a consistent open data format, careful relationship-building with colleagues at ONS and acting as a crucial link between them and the developer team that is responsible for maintaining and improving the system.I also represented ONS at external conferences, such as the Data Cymru conference in Cardiff and Open Data Camp in Aberdeen and London.

I run Landmark Atlas, an Etsy shop and Substack blog.The common theme between the two is cartography. I make maps of cultural landmarks and points of interest for my Etsy shop. On the blog I write stories about British history and culture using maps as a visual guide.

I set up the website R for Journalists - the premier website for journalists who want to learn how to use the R programming language. It had almost 15,000 page views in 2022 alone.I have written tutorials covering scraping, natural language processing (NLP), network analysis, mapping visualisation, a function cheat sheet, SQL and how it relates to R as well as numerous worked examples of my actual journalism done using R.

I worked at the Reach Data Unit for five years. I worked with my colleagues on our wide portfolio of regional titles, such as the Manchester Evening News and Liverpool Echo, as well as the Mirror titles in London.My role involved finding data, analysing it for news lines and writing stories for our titles. We placed a lot of emphasis on coming up with original ideas for data-driven stories, whether that was by web scraping, Freedom of Information requests or combining several datasets together.The other side to what I did was project work. This was longer-term work where I aimed to provide a service to our readers using data besides telling a news story, such as crime patterns in their neighbourhood.I was recognised externally for the consistently high standard of my data journalism. The Reach Data Unit won the Digital Award at the Regional Press Awards in May 2016, recognising me as part of the best digital news team in the regional media. I was also shortlisted for best individual portfolio at the Data Journalism Awards 2018, held by the Global Editors Network.

Translated and listed our ranges of products into French and German online and responded to French and German customer service enquiries. I was a self-starter, working under my own initiative.

Devised and led English conversation lessons of up to twelve French teenagers in a school in a disadvantaged Parisian suburb.
