Robert Guajardo is an expert in Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) systems in the US and is now working as the Solution Architect and Technical Lead for the VA's effort to migrate VistA to the VA's VAEC in the commercial cloud. To date, over 100 production VistA systems have been migrated to the cloud from VA on prem data centers. Prior to joining Cognosante, his entire career has been spent in software development, including leading and managing software engineering teams in both the commercial and federal healthcare IT space. Robert has over 35 years of Federal Healthcare IT experience working with the Defense Health Agency (DHS) supporting CHCS, AHLTA and TC2, Department of Veteran Affairs, as well as the Indian Health Service (IHS).Robert’s ongoing goal is to leverage his expertise in healthcare, business process analysis, cloud migrations, organizational change management, database design and integration technologies, to help clients improve the quality of healthcare delivery while reducing costs and increasing efficiencies in healthcare IT systems. In 2010, Robert was encouraged to use his ability to communicate the organizations capabilities, and work closely with customers as a trusted solutions partner. He leveraged his ability to tailor technical healthcare IT discussions, as appropriate, to the particular audience. Having come from a healthcare focused IT background, he has the ability to dive into details and solution requirements to a greater depth than most HIT professionals can speak to.As a system architect and engineer Robert’s experience, while heavily in the Federal Health Agency arena, solution development with CHCS, TC2 and AHLTA, the VA VistA system as well as the IHS RPMS system. Software development, EHR Modernization, cloud migrations and maintenance projects included areas of Laboratory, Pharmacy, Medical Record Tracking, Patient Admissions and Registration, Patient Appointment Scheduling, Emergency Department, Systems Interfacing and Data Sharing, Radiology, Order Entry, TC2, SSO/CM, Purchased Care Claims Processing and CP&E Data Warehouse Development.
