Fisher Auto Parts is a family-owned auto parts retailer that sells parts and accessories to professional technicians and DIY customers. In this role, I develop applications that help customers find and purchase parts.

Reveddit is a toolset that reveals where Reddit users have been shadow banned. I was inspired to build Reveddit after discovering some personal comments from past years had been secretly removed, and as I worked on the project I developed a passion for free-speech values. Reveddit was built to improve online discourse by returning power to genuine individuals, with the understanding that shadow bans only serve to fool humans (not bots).Reveddit grew to over 600,000 monthly active users, 8,000 Chrome/Firefox extension users, earned consistently positive feedback from users, and cultivated active discussion communities. I did all development for the web-based app and extensions using a mix of JavaScript, Webpack, React.js, and Reddit’s API. The app’s features include:• A Reveddit version of every Reddit page (e.g. u/ users, r/ subreddits, threads, crossposts, domains) with advanced filters, built using Reddit’s API, React.js, JavaScript, and Webpack.• A Chrome/Firefox Web Extension that notifies users when their content has been removed.• Subreddit history pages that summarize where moderators and users disagree, built using Python, Pushshift’s Reddit dataset, Flask, PostgreSQL, and Gunicorn.• Restore comments using Wayback Machine API built with BeautifulSoup.• A random user lookup to demonstrate the frequency of secretive comment removals.• Comment labels (e.g. “collapsed”, “orphaned”) to indicate other ways visibility is reduced.• Reveal quarantined comments’ removal status using Cloudflare Workers.My work on Reveddit has led to opportunities to advocate for free-speech values to the tech community by publishing content and joining conferences and podcasts. I created the RemovedNews.com Substack to shed light on the widespread secret suppression of online content, reaching 35,000 views and 300+ subscribers.

East Asia

I worked for several years as a freelance developer while I lived and traveled across East Asia. My projects included development of a leading-edge machine learning system to perform semantic search of patents, and development work for two non-profits that included creation of performant UI and UX that ensured clarity, findability, and accessibility across multiple platforms.

New York City

Do Something is a nonprofit that encourages young people to take action on causes that impact them and their communities. In this role, I built custom Drupal themes for sponsored social-action projects targeting kids. My work included SEO training for staff, building cloud-based development environments, performance engineering, and implementing code and architectural optimizations.

I was a Software Engineer in FactSet's New York office. While there I worked with a team of engineers who specialized in applying Natural Language Processing methods to financial data processing. In the Content Collection Services department, I designed and implemented information extraction systems. I spent half my time researching new ideas, and spent the other half implementing new features in an active production system that serviced tens of thousands of users daily.
