During the years that I was stationed at Joint Base Lewis Mcchord I was responsible for a variety of task. I was put in charge of a quality assurance and quality control section responsible for the oversight of all the safety and correct completion of all repairs done in the motor pool by all mechanic personnel. I was given the additional duty of being the shop foreman for a group of personnel attached to the company I worked for. We were responsible for the maintenance and accountability of one hundred heavy vehicles and well as generators, trailers, and the M777 towed howitzer artillery cannons in the company. My task included being the senior mechanic on the floor as well as keeping accountability of tools, supplies and all repair parts in the section.

I was responsible for all shop operations in the maintenance bay and on the vehicle line. I was responsible for all mechanics doing their assigned work and ensure all work was done to standard and as quickly as possible. I was responsible for all hazmat containment and spill prevention as well as work space safety compliance and adherence..

These responsibilities mirrored the ones in Germany as well as being responsible for mechanics training on various platforms found in our unit.

I was responsible for conducting weekly, monthly, and yearly services and checks on all components in the maintenance area. This was not limited to just vehicles it also went down to the generators as well as any machines used to service vehicles. I was responsible for ensuring that all equipment stayed in working condition and did not fail while in use my fellow Marines. At the later part of my enlistment it was my responsibility to conduct quality assurance and quality control checks on all repairs done in the shop.
