I am a life-long learner and life-long educator. I have spent almost all of my professional life working in education spanning pre-school through post-graduate work. I have a diverse set of experiences and a passion for students. I began my career in education co-teaching with one of my own high school teachers in a new alternative program at the high school level. This opportunity provided a great life experience while I was finishing my undergraduate studies in psychology and then transitioning to a specialization in educational psychology for my graduate studies.I began working at the administrative level while in graduate school as the Director of Research & Development in Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD). At the same time, I began teaching at the university level in the College of Education at Northern Arizona University (NAU). For a short time, I transitioned to a full-time clinical professor at NAU and gained invaluable experience as a full-time faculty member while maintaining part-time employment at FUSD.The ever-changing environment in k-12 public education demanded more attention and served as a platform to develop unique systems-level problem-solving skills in FUSD and I returned to serve as the Director of Research, Assessment, & Data on a full-time basis, while still teaching as adjunct faculty at NAU.In my nearly 17 years with FUSD, I have been honored to serve on numerous committees tackling issues with curriculum, assessment, budget revisions, staff development, software systems implementation, strategic plan development, and climate & culture growth.My long-time working relationship at NAU has afforded me opportunities to work in the community with partners such as LAUNCH Flagstaff, a cradle-to-career community development organization. It has also allowed me to mentor numerous aspiring professionals in my classes, on dissertation committees, or student organizations. In addition to my current professional positions, I have been able to work as a consultant providing services to private and educational organizations to conduct impartial internal investigations into employee or student misconduct. As an independent consultant, I have also coordinated the production and deployment of local and international conferences, counseled families about educational opportunities for post-secondary studies, and evaluated assessments systems.I have been blessed to have been afforded the opportunity to develop such a comprehensive set of skills. I am excited about the future and what new adventures come my way.
