I have countless design iterations and dozens of 3D prints in various stages of testing. After graduating from Dartmouth College and the Thayer School of Engineering in June of 2017, I took a full-time position in Thayer as the Design Fellow. One third of my time is devoted to independent projects, where I have the freedom to design and build new inventions using the resources at Thayer. The rest of my time is spent with students, faculty and staff, developing their projects, redesigning courses, and conducting research. I help teach six design-heavy courses ranging from the introductory engineering class to the major capstone. I am a resource for everyone in Thayer, and it is an absolute joy.

Spring 2016-Spring 2017: Worked as a teaching assistant for Design Thinking, a course in the engineering department. It focuses on the cognitive strategies and methodologies that form the basis of creative design practice.Summer 2015: Through the Young African Leaders Initiative, I guided a team of Mandela Washington Fellows through a design journey to bring electricity to a rural African village. Winter 2015: As part of the Dartmouth Sustainability Office, I helped lead a workshop series called EcoVate that develops human centered design skills and applies them to campus sustainability issues.

• Developed a crisis management program with a team of 6 for NASA to help astronauts cope in constrained environments. • Invented a pressure-sensitive running-shoe insole (patent pending) that measures foot strike dynamics to prevent injury. • Served as Project Manager for the RunRite Team, building an iOS app that interfaces with our shoe insole.

I was on a team working on MEMS gyroscopes for rollover detection in cars. Before roll out, the parts must be tested and verified in a variety of conditions. Temperature sweeps provide performance measurements across temperature extremes, but are confined to closed ovens. Measuring the sensitivity of gyroscopes during a temperature sweep is difficult because it requires large, expensive ovens that are also capable of rotating their contents. My project was to design a new system for measuring the sensitivity of gyroscopes across a temperature sweep using the in-lab ovens. I designed, built, and programmed novel test equipment to precisely rotate MEMS gyroscopes within the ovens. I gathered and analyzed relevant data from the test equipment with LabVIEW and JMP to assess the efficacy of new gyroscopes. Finally, I wrote a detailed data sheet for my device to facilitate a seamless transition into the workflow of full-time engineers.

• Established the “Make This Home” social sustainability initiative for Dartmouth’s campus with a team of ten. • Revitalized underused spaces to promote inclusivity; transformed an empty campus crossroad into a coffeehouse/study space.• Collaborated with on-campus leaders to hold three community-building events that together held over 200 people.
