• Successfully completed research into maximizing the specific modulus of a high-strength glass composition for use in wind turbine blades that is capable of being melted economically in a largescale refractory furnace. Properties were optimized using existing raw materials.• Further optimized and secured patent protection for a low dielectric loss glass composition for printed circuit boards, resulting in a product that is currently best in class.• Implemented a new methodology for conversion of a large-scale glass furnace from one E-Glass composition to a different E-Glass composition, resulting in the highest product yield and the most consistent chemistry for the campaign in the history of the company.• New glass compositional development resulted in a need to better understand how to accurately measure the chemistry of glasses with a high Boron content using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). This has led to gaining tremendous insight into methodologies required to consistently produce accurate and precise measurements of diverse glass chemistries using XRF.

• Lead Research Scientist for next generation new glass fiber chemistry development, including glasses exhibiting low dielectric loss, low coefficient of thermal expansion, high strength and modulus, improved strain to failure, and increased thermal stability.• Successfully developed a linear regression model for S-2 glass-forming efficiency that allowed for the optimization of S-2 glass chemistry and forming metrics to achieve the highest production efficiency in the company’s history.• Key team member on all new glass development manufacturing trials, including prediction of forming properties for use with bushing design, monitoring and adjustment of glass chemistry, and data analysis of forming efficiency as a function of all monitored forming metrics. • Lead technical interface between the Science & Technology and Manufacturing departments, tasked with chemistry control of 4 distinct glasses in the AGY Advanced Materials Division.• Key member of the AGY Intellectual Property Team responsible for working with legal counsel in order to secure new patents and protect existing intellectual property.• Co-leader as Research Scientist for the Army Research Labs funded investigation into development of new glass fibers for use in military armor applications; responsibilities included: glass compositional and property development, documentation of R&D, time management, and billing.• Frequent collaborator with both the Product Engineering and New Product Development teams. • Project Manager for development of plasma torch glass melting technology in conjunction with Plasmelt L.L.C.; successfully brought the project to a close by taking a hands-on approach and designing experiments to prove the feasibility of the process in the glass fiber industry.• Designed the glass research portion of the AGY Science & Technology facility built in 2007, including lab equipment specifications, layout design, and interface between other engineering disciplines.

• Conducted extensive research on the strengthening of soda lime silicate glass containers via flame polishing and ion exchange• Developed a chemical strengthening treatment better suited to a large scale production environment, including new advances in salt composition and application, as well as post strengthening salt removal • Designed industrial technology required for the implementation of the strengthening technique, including salt melting furnaces, bottle dipping arrays and washing stations• Time required for strengthening reduced from 4 hours to less than 30 minutes, resulting in substantial cost-savings and increased efficiency and productivity• Successfully converted the laboratory scale research process in New York state into a large scale production process in Dubai, U.A.E. at Al Tajir Glass
