About Robert Hendrickson
Geospatial data analyst. Focused on satellite imagery analysis and applications, with an emphasis on agroecology. My main research background is in plant ecology and urban planning. During my undergraduate studies at UC San Diego, I participated in plant ecology research projects involving the flowering phenology of the California poppy. In the Summer of 2022, I was selected as an undergraduate researcher for an NSF REU at Friday Harbor Laboratories, where I conducted research on the interspecific transmission dynamics of Seagrass Wasting Disease (SWD) from aquaculture Pacific oysters to eelgrass. I also participated in San Diego County planning efforts for carbon smart farming initiatives thru a University of California Office of the President Global Food Initiative Research Fellowship. I am currently a Doctoral student in the Department of Biology at Temple University, where I am researching the invasive Spotted lanternfly and its impacts on agriculture. I utilize satellite imagery from USGS-NASA Landsat for a number of applications related to agricultural management. My current project focus is on land cover and land scale analyses of vineyards in the Northeastern US and effects on Spotted lanternfly invasion. Later chapters will continue with spatial analysis using Landsat data, with an emphasis on machine learning applications for remote detection of spotted lanternfly using Landsat spectral reflectance bands, along with analyses and models of grape-cultivar range shifts due to anthropogenic climate change.
