From learning and teaching traditional roasting techniques, to high tech advancements, my career has tracked the transformation of the coffee industry, from a small group of coffee enthusiasts that banned together to create a new identity called Specialty Coffee, to Third Wave and beyond of global growers and entrepreneurs. I started my career with Peet's when Alfred Peet was still very active in the business. With his support I moved on to working with the roaster manufacturer Probat focusing on equipment manufacturing and roaster training. After visiting numerous coffee farms I decided to dig deeper into the realms of coffee imports and international trading. The experience of working with many different start ups and well established companies sparked my interest in management, marketing, team building and goal setting, as I learned how all the parts of an organization need to work together to be successful over a long period of time: culture, strategy, planning, creative, production, sales, accounting and more, every piece plays its part, just like every organ of our body contributes to make us healthy and whole. This diversity is the essence of my position as Director of Business Support at iFillSystems, that serves the single serve segment of the coffee industry. There is something in the spirit and culture of coffee that has its own kind of magnetism. I love the fact that we are a global industry that connects a whole chain of elements from the basics of farming, technology, and global trade, to the simple pleasure of people all over the globe enjoying a great cup of coffee.
