As the Sr. Industrial engineer used lean tools to increase throughput and capacity for all packaging lines and manufacturing areas. Established baseline metrics for the plant such as OEE, change over standard times, standard work instructions, and downtime analysis for all aspects of production. Developed an interactive and visual Production KPI and Downtime BI Dashboard. Conduct weekly OEE and Downtime meetings with plant management to monitor and analyze KPIs for all aspects of manufacturing and provide insights as to where the bottlenecks and opportunities are. Lead several successful CI events and used lean six sigma tools (Capability Analysis, Value Stream Mapping, Gage R&R, and Root Cause Analysis) to achieve improvements.Selected Contributions:• Used capability analysis methods to achieve a $500k+ savings in fill weights while improving packaging yield to exceed yield target.• Lead a Continuous Improvement Event that reduced labeler downtime by 61% across all packaging lines.• Lead other CI projects related to identifying waste (value stream mapping of powder manufacturing process) and increasing plant capacity (weighing/blending productivity improvement). On all these CI projects, provided valuable insights for baseline performance, key drivers of downtime/inefficiencies, standards derivation, possible solutions, and on-going performance monitoring for sustaining improvements. As a result, we were able to achieve impactful cost savings and positive operational cash flows (delaying capital requirements) on these CI projects.
