After working nearly 25 years in the banking/finance sector, while simultaneously working my “fun job” or my “side hustle” in private armed security, executive protection, etc., I decided to make the switch to my “fun job” full-time in January 2023. For years I resisted the urge to “jump ship” from mortgage to the security world because I was comfortable. At least that’s what I told myself. In reality I was stagnating. I shied away from advancement or management roles because I didn’t want the added stress. I never volunteered for anything outside of my comfort zone because I just wanted to “do my job and go home.” I enjoyed working in private security and as my skill set and experience grew, so to did the desire to get out of the rut I placed myself in and really do a job I LOVED. Not just endured because it paid the bills. So when the opportunity presented itself to leave mortgage and join a great team at FJM, I told myself that I would make the leap and leave the rest of the details up to God. It’s true when they say that if you find a job you love, you never work a day in your life!
