Robert Hilbert serves as CohnReznick's Managing Partner of Assurance. Robert is responsible for the Firm’s assurance practice, including it’s audit methodology, risk management and its overall system of quality control. He also leads the firms National Assurance practice, which is comprised of the National Director of Audit, the National Director of Accounting, the National Office and the Regional Professional Practice Group.Robert has extensive knowledge of fair value accounting, financial instruments, debt and equity transactions, revenue recognition, business combinations, income taxes, and SEC reporting matters. His scope of services includes providing technical advisory assistance to clients and engagement teams, functioning in both audit and consulting roles. For 10 years of his career, he functioned as permanent member of the National Office for a KPMG LLP, both as a senior manager and as a partner. He has served clients in many industries including mining, retail, manufacturing, commodity and energy entities, small to very large banks and other financial institutions, and technology and life sciences companies.

A partner with CohnReznick LLP and the National Director of Accounting. As the leader of the Accounting Group in the firm's National Office, primary responsibilities include: the understanding and adoption of new accounting standards, clarification of existing accounting standards, responses to regulatory or proposed standards, collaboration with engagement teams on accounting issues, preparation of white papers/US GAAP analyses for internal and external distribution, issue resolution and collaborating with the firm's Learning and Development group on training matters.

Member of the Firm's Professional Practice Group. Primary responsibilities include consultations on technical accounting questions and review of SEC filings of client companies. Other responsibilities include consulting engagements for non-clients on technical accounting issues and providing assistance to the Firm's Corporate Finance group for complex fair value accounting issues.

Robert was admitted to KPMG’s partnership in October 2006 as a partner in KPMG’s National Office. During his tenure as a Partner in the National Office, Robert had responsibility for the US firm’s response to fair value accounting issues as the firm’s Fair Value Alternate Topic Team Leader. Robert also had responsibility for the US firm’s response to accounting issues involving commodities, including derivatives and hedging. As a result of these responsibilities, Robert’s activities included:• Developing and reviewing firm accounting guidance and related to fair value since the issuance of Statement 157 (ASC Topic 820). Activities include issuing the firm’s internal guidance on measuring fair value and the appropriate application of US GAAP in various scenarios.• Developing and executing the US firm’s nation-wide training plan for the implementation and application of ASC Topic 820, including preparing and presenting US firm national training on fair value. • Reviewing and presenting national office guidance on the accounting for derivatives, with a concentration on derivatives in the commodities industries (agricultural, financial, mining, oil and gas, power and renewables). • Organizing and serving as the firm’s representatives on (Big 4 + 2) calls and meetings related to accounting issues for fair value, derivatives and hedging, financial instruments, commodities, mining, oil and gas, and not-for-profit entities.• Assisting the FASB and EITF by serving as a member of a Working Group or directly being involved in the development of guidance for energy and commodities industries. Robert also provided guidance for financial instruments, equity method investments, business combinations, revenue recognition, accounting for income taxes, leases and Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting matters. Robert has presented a wide range of topics to internal and external audiences, sometimes involving more than 2000 people.

While at Kodak, Robert provided technical advisory assistance, training and procedural guidance in Kodak’s global Accounting Research Policy and Procedures Group, supporting over 100 accounting professionals in Kodak’s global operations. During his time with Kodak, Robert traveled to Switzerland, Brazil, Mexico, China, Britain and locations within the United States training Kodak personnel on US GAAP applicable to Kodak. Robert also assumed the technical responsibilities associated with the Company’s remediation of its material weakness related to accounting for income taxes. In this role, Robert acted as the interim tax manager for the Company until a permanent candidate could be found.At Kodak, Robert was responsible for answering technical inquiries and providing technical and procedural guidance for all areas of accounting. Robert was also responsible for responding to FASB comment letter requests for new standards that could impact Kodak.
