As General Manager, Rob more than tripled event revenue in one year through newly created events, while simultaneously overseeing and improving daily operations. His vision to re-establish Rawhide as an entertainment/event complex included must-needed improvements, renovations and expansion to host larger events. He doubled the event lawn from 50,000 to over 100,000 sq. ft. and reconstructed a 50,000 sq. ft. covered space to be an enclosed, conditioned facility for year-round concerts and corporate functions. As principal on the core team that secured the 2010 World Equestrian Games for Kentucky, Rob was involved in every step of the process – from the very early research and with the Gluck Center, USDA, Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the United States Equestrian Federation, through preliminary planning stages, to presenting Kentucky’s bid to the Fédération Equestre Internationale in Bahrain in 2005.As COO/VP of Operations for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG), Rob shaped and guided the complex process of preparation for the WEG. This encompassed a range of operational areas including construction of permanent facilities and 396 temporary structures, security, safety, transportation, food services (1.1 million meals), housing, sponsorship, venue layouts, budgets, hospitality, media operations, operational staffing and services for spectators, athletes and horses (including coordinating their transportation – the largest commercial airlift of horses for competition). Attendance topped 500,000 including 632 athletes and 752 horses form 58 countries. Media coverage was an unprecedented 8 ½ hours on NBC Sports, as well as more than 300 hours internationally through the European Broadcast Union.
