Our test and field service group is responsible for the final functional verification of product prior to shipment and for overseeing the startup, installation and commissioning of projects in the field. We are also responsible for any field modifications or warranty related work that must be performed.

Engineering ManagerSwitchboard Apparatus, Inc Mar 2011 - Sep 2012In my role as the Engineering Manager at SAI, I was responsible for overseeing the mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and CNC programming groups within SAI’s engineering department. This consisted of 15 engineers who were responsible for the complete mechanical and electrical design of all orders at SAI as well as the programming of parts for automated machinery in our production facility. My day to day responsibilities included the acceptance and review of new projects, assigning and scheduling the work in our engineering backlog and the overseeing of the completion of these assignments in accordance with the project plans set forth by project management.Working with a knowledgeable group of engineers, we were able to improve engineering performance by reducing the touch time on projects to increase capacity and increase the rate of on time delivery to production of completed design packages despite a period of strong growth for SAI with limited additions to our resources. We were able to do this through a variety of ways, some of which included the implementation of better CAD systems both in mechanical and electrical engineering that improved the accuracy of designs and bill of materials, the development of a comprehensive project library to reduce labor and the regeneration of parts on future projects, and an upgraded system for generating work instructions and material requirements for production that included automated elements to reduce labor and also allowed for the staging of materials in accordance with the production fabrication and assembly plans.

Sr. Applications EngineerSwitchboard Apparatus, Inc Oct 2005 - Mar 2011As a senior member of the application engineering department at SAI, I was responsible for the processing of RFQ’s for custom switchgear. This included the review and qualification of the request against all applicable standards and codes, development of a complete and accurate bill of material of components required to complete the project, the pre-engineering of a suitable design fit to meet the needs of the customer and the project and the development of a pricing structure that allows the project to be successful both for SAI and our customer. In this group I was also responsible for the development of an initial project plan related to the scheduling of the design and build of the equipment we were quoting. Prior to the incorporation of a formal project management department at SAI in 2010, this role also included project management activities as the driver of the projects through our manufacturing process and acting as the main point of contact to our customers throughout this time frame.While in this role I was responsible for several improvements to process and policy that have allowed SAI to provide a more comprehensive package to their customers. Some of these improvements included the addition of customized AutoCAD drawings with quotes that provide realistic footprint and elevation details prior to order, an automated process for pricing that greatly reduced the amount of time and labor required to process a quotation while also providing more accurate labor and cost accounts giving detailed inputs to production and accounting systems upon receipt of order. In addition, I worked with SAI's key vendors on the development of pricing systems and structures for purchased components to allow SAI to become self-reliant during the quotation stage which greatly reduced the turnaround time when processing RFQ’s.
