Head of Balance Sheet Investments, responsible for investing and managing the Hollard group’s balance sheet asset portfolios, covering both life and general insurance licences. This includes asset allocation, external asset manager selection, portfolio construction & risk management, responsible investment, instrument selection & trading of the internal asset portfolios. I also lead the asset administration, operations, investment reporting and unit pricing functions.Key responsibilities include:• Management of the Balance Sheet Portfolios of the group’s General and Life insurance licences. These portfolios include: Policyholder Portfolios, Solvency Capital Portfolios, Shareholder Portfolios, Cell Captives, Linked Investment Portfolios etc.• The setting and implementation of the asset allocations of the balance sheet portfolios.• Overseeing investment research (at asset class, asset manager and instrument levels).• Oversight of fund manager due diligence, selection and implementing, monitoring, mandate compliance, performance, positioning and managing relationships.• Oversight for the management and trading of internally managed asset portfolios including foreign cash, fixed income, and preference shares as well as hedging unwanted exposures.• Investment Committee representation, incl review and distribution of committee reports, presenting investment performance and positioning, making proposals, and facilitating key investment-related discussions.• Investment decision making and achieving investment performance targets.• Ensuring sufficient liquidity for the group to meet any arising requirements.• Management of the Balance Sheet Investments team.• Responsible for achieving the groups Empowerment Finance points targets.• Oversee the unit pricing of the groups linked investment policies.• Oversee the monthly valuation of unlisted fixed income instruments.• Conception, development, proposal, and implementation of interest rate immunisation program.

Head of the Portfolio Management team responsible for Hollard’s balance sheet asset portfolios including asset allocation, external asset manager selection, and the management and trading of the internal asset portfolios. In addition I lead the asset administration and unit pricing functions.My Responsibilities continue from my previous role and include:• Overseeing the unit pricing of linked investment policies. In addition to pricing the units this includes the management of the linked funds, asset allocation, investment decisions, performance monitoring and reporting to policyholders or the Trustees of the invested RA fund.• Investment Management:- Management of the Balance Sheet Portfolios of the Hollard groups Short-term and Life licences. These portfolios include Policyholder Portfolios, Solvency Capital Portfolios, Shareholder Portfolios- Setting and implementation of the strategic and tactical asset allocations of Hollard’s balance sheet portfolios.- Overseeing investment research (at asset class, asset manager and instrument levels).- Responsible for all 3rd party asset manager relationships, performing due diligence of asset managers, making and implementing investment decisions as well as monitoring mandate compliance, performance and positioning.- Responsible for the management and trading of internally managed asset portfolios including foreign cash, fixed income, and preference shares.• Hedging of unwanted market risks and overseeing the daily monitoring of hedge effectiveness as well as the rolling and rebalancing of hedges.• Overseeing the monthly valuation of all fixed income instruments.• Calculation of the short-term, deferred and Exco incentive bonus pools for the group.• Responsible for the groups empowerment financing investments.

Treasury & Capital ManagementResponsibilities:- Oversee the unit pricing function. Includes management of linked funds, asset allocation and investment decisions, performance monitoring and external reporting.- Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM): Oversee the calculation of market risk and participation risk as well as asset reporting.- Management and monitoring of Hollard's 3rd party asset managers.- Asset reporting to the FSB and SARB.- Calculation of the short-term, deferred and Exco incentive bonus pools for the group.Past responsibilities:- Co-management of a global Credit Default Swap portfolio.- Specification and implementation of the asset administration and unit pricing system.- SAM implementation in the TCM area for both Hollard Life and Hollard Insurance. Calculation of the market risk and participations components of SCR and the reporting of assets.
